A Jersey entrepreneur has created a new app, Fit to Give, that hopes to raise £5 million for charity just by asking users to walk, run or cycle.

Peter Van Neste came up with the idea in March and has been working with local developers to turn his idea into reality.Fit to Give allows app users to choose a charity of their choice and then raise funds each time they run, walk or cycle.

The app has already got support from three local sponsors,  Sure, Healthaus and the Channel Islands Co-op.

Peter works out of the Digital Jersey Hub where he’s been supported as a Tech start-up member, “I was out for run earlier this year and I thought wouldn’t it be good if as I ran I could raise money for charity. I didn’t want to keep asking friends and family to sponsor me so the idea for this app was born.”

The app has a 12 week initial launch phase in Jersey and after that Peter will use the data gathered to launch an iOS and Android versions of the app into the UK.

The app can be downloaded for free on IOS http://www.fittogive.co.uk/
