Digital Jersey is launching a new industry led training programme for the island. A three-month Digital Marketing course is to start in September, aimed at existing digital businesses and those who want to attain an entry-level position in the industry.

The pilot vocational learning programme will follow a similar structure to the already very successful DJ Coding course. Applicants will spend two evenings a week in the digital Hub, and It will develop the skills necessary for an entry-level individual to enter the digital industry, or for an existing digital company employee to learn the skills needed to help market the business.

The programme has been established by Digital Jersey following research into tech company needs and with funding provided through the Government’s economic growth pot. It aims to address the need for more digital marketing specialists both within tech companies and to grow the skillset generally in the island.

This programme is therefore open to individual learners who want the opportunity to develop digital skills while exploring their creative potential, and for existing tech businesses to nominate a member of staff who can be responsible for digital marketing in their company. Teaching takes place two evenings a week and so applicants are able to continue a full time job whilst on the programme. It will give learners a good degree of knowledge and competency but will not provide a formal qualification.

The programme will be based at Digital Jersey’s Hub, where learners can use the space for their personal learning and group projects. The programme will involve a mixture of classroom-based activity and self-taught study, with no examinations. The programme is interactive, utilising multiple media with a flexible format, and has been created, and will be supported by, ‘Mentors’ currently working in the Digital industry so learners can be sure that what they’re learning is immediately relevant and up to date.
